Isao Homma's Football Journey
Early Life and High School Football
Isao Homma was born in Tainai, Japan, on April 19, 1981. He started playing football at a young age. When he was 8, he joined the Nakajo Junior Soccer Club. Later, in 1997, he went to Narashino High School. He played for his school's football team. In 1998, his high school team won an important tournament in their area.
Starting Professional Football
Homma began his professional football career in 2000. He joined a team called Albirex Niigata. His first professional game was on May 5, 2000. It was a J2 League match against Mito HollyHock. Just three days later, he scored his very first professional goal. This helped his team win 2–1 against Shonan Bellmare. In his first year, Homma played in 31 games and scored three goals. For the next few years, he worked hard to become a regular player. He often came into games as a substitute.
Becoming a Key Player and Captain
By the 2009 season, Homma had become a very important player for Albirex Niigata. He usually played as a central or defensive midfielder. This meant he helped protect the team's goal and also started attacks. He played in 42 games that season.
At the start of the 2010 season, Homma was chosen as the new captain of Albirex Niigata. This was a big honor. However, in 2013, he started to play less often. Other players, like Léo Silva and Yuki Kobayashi, began to play more in his position. By 2014, he did not play any games for Albirex Niigata.
Moving to Tochigi SC and Retirement
In August 2014, Homma moved to another team, Tochigi SC. This team was also in the J2 League. He quickly became a regular player there, playing as a defensive midfielder. However, in 2015, Tochigi SC finished last in their league. This meant they were moved down to the J3 League.
In 2016, Homma continued to play regularly for Tochigi SC. The team did much better, finishing second in the J3 League. But they lost in the playoffs, so they could not move back up to J2. In 2017, Isao Homma returned to his first professional club, Albirex Niigata. He played a few more games before deciding to retire from football at the end of the 2017 season.
