Itaska Beach is a small, special kind of village in Alberta, Canada. It's called a summer village because many people only live there during the warmer months, like a vacation spot! Itaska Beach is located right on the northwest shore of Pigeon Lake, which is west of a town called Wetaskiwin.

What's in a Name?

The name Itaska Beach comes from the Cree words ispâskweyâw (pronounced: is-PAS-kway-yaw). These words mean "high trees on the edge of woods," which sounds like a beautiful place!

How Many People Live Here?

Let's talk about how many people live in Itaska Beach!

In 2021, a count called the Census of Population found that 30 people lived in Itaska Beach. They lived in 14 homes out of 73 total houses in the village. This was a small increase from 2016, when 23 people lived there. Because it's a small area (only about 0.26 square kilometers), it means there are about 113 people living in each square kilometer.

In the 2016 Census, there were 23 people living in 10 homes out of 78 total houses. That was also a small increase from 20 people in 2011. The land area was slightly larger then, about 0.29 square kilometers.
