Exploring Ituri Province
Ituri Province is a large area in the northeastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is known for its amazing natural beauty, especially the famous Ituri Rainforest.
Where is Ituri Province Located?
Ituri Province is found northeast of the Ituri River. It is also on the western side of Lake Albert. This lake is a large body of water. Ituri shares its borders with two other countries: Uganda and South Sudan.
What are the Main Areas of Ituri?
The province is divided into five main administrative areas. These areas are called territories. They help manage the different parts of Ituri. Here are the five territories:
- Aru (about 6,740 square kilometers)
- Djugu (about 8,184 square kilometers)
- Irumu (about 8,730 square kilometers)
- Mahagi (about 5,221 square kilometers)
- Mambasa (about 36,783 square kilometers)
