Ivan Aleksandrovich Nabokov was a brave Russian general who lived a long time ago. He was an important leader in the army during the Napoleonic Wars, which were big conflicts in Europe. He was known for his courage and skill in battle.

A Brave Russian General

Ivan Nabokov was born in Russia in 1787. His family was noble, meaning they had a high social rank. His father, Alexander Nabokov, was also a general.

In 1806, Ivan joined the army as a lieutenant. He became part of the special Semyonovsky Regiment. He fought in many battles against Napoleon and his army.

Early Battles and Awards

Ivan Nabokov showed great bravery very early in his career. In the Battle of Friedland, he fought with such courage that he received a special gold sword. This sword had the words "for bravery" written on it. He also earned the rank of captain.

He continued to prove himself in many important battles. These included the famous Battle of Borodino and battles at Lützen and Bautzen. For his actions, he received several important awards.

Rising Through the Ranks

By September 1814, Ivan Nabokov was promoted to Major General. This was because of his excellent performance in the Battle of Kulm. He then took charge of the Sevsky Infantry Regiment.

With his new regiment, he fought in more battles. These included Bar-sur-Aube and Laon. In the Battle of Arcis-sur-Aube, he was wounded in the head. Despite his injury, he received another high award for his bravery.

Later Career and Leadership

After the Napoleonic Wars, Nabokov continued his military service. He commanded different army units for many years. He became a lieutenant-general in 1828. Later, in 1844, he was named an Adjutant General. This was a very high position, like a senior aide to the Emperor.

In 1848, he joined the Military Council. This group helped make important decisions for the army. He also managed a hospital and commanded the famous Peter and Paul Fortress in Saint Petersburg.

Ivan Nabokov passed away in 1852 in Saint Petersburg. He was buried in the Peter and Paul Fortress. His brother Nikolay was an ancestor of the famous writer Vladimir Nabokov.
