Ivan Vekić (born October 18, 1938 – died December 17, 2014) was an important Croatian politician and lawyer. He helped start the Croatian Democratic Union, a major political party. In 1989, Ivan Vekić became one of the people who helped create the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ). This was a new political party in Croatia. The party played a big role in Croatia becoming an independent country.
