Ivette Marilú Vergara Ulloa (born 26 February 1972) is a Chilean journalist and television presenter. She started her TV journey as a model in 1991. Later, she became a presenter, working at TVN. One of her early shows was Hugo. Today, she works for the channel Mega. She is part of the morning program Mucho gusto.

Ivette Vergara is the daughter of Aquiles Vergara Muñoz. He was a former army captain.

She loves sports, especially volleyball. She even played for the San Sebastián University team.

Ivette Vergara is married to sports reporter and journalist Fernando Solabarrieta. They have three children together: Nicolás, Iñaki, and Maite.

Ivette's TV Career

When Ivette was 17 in 1990, she won the "Miss Paula" beauty contest. In 1992, she was in a music video for the song "No te portes mal [es]" by the Argentine group GIT [es]. At that time, she was studying Food Technology at the University of Santiago.

In 1993, she appeared on La Red's music show Top 30. This show was later hosted by Rafael Araneda. She also had a small role in the TV show Marrón glacé [es].

Working at TVN

In 1994, Ivette Vergara started working as a journalist at TVN. There, she created a music video program called Telekinesis. Her first time as a main presenter was in 1995. This was for the program Hugo, where she stayed until 1997. From 1998 to 2003, she hosted the show Día a día.

Moving to Other Channels

From 2006 to 2010, she was a reporter for the Chilevisión morning show Gente como tú [es]. This show was led by Leo Caprile [es]. At the same channel, she also hosted the Festival del Huaso de Olmué.

In November 2010, she became the director of Mujeres primero [es] on La Red. In 2012, she hosted the TVN travel program La Ruta de Gengis Khan. She hosted it with Ricardo Astorga [es].

Joining Mega

In 2013, Ivette Vergara joined Mega. She started as a reporter for the show A Viva Voz. Later that year, she joined the morning program Mucho gusto. She shared the screen with Luis Jara and Kathy Salosny. She was also asked to host the Dichato Festival [es].

She joined Mega's Sports Department. This allowed her to be with her husband Fernando Solabarrieta. They worked together during the broadcast of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
