Ján Ďurica, born on December 10, 1981, is a former professional football player from Slovakia. He was a central defender, which means he played in the defense to stop opposing teams from scoring. After he stopped playing, he became an assistant manager for a football club called FC Petržalka.

Playing for Football Clubs
Ján Ďurica started his professional football journey in Slovakia. He played for FC Artmedia Bratislava and had a very successful time there.
Moving to Russia and Germany
After his time in Slovakia, Ďurica moved to Russia. He joined FC Saturn Moscow Oblast in 2006. Later, in 2009, he signed a three-year contract with Lokomotiv Moscow. During his time with Lokomotiv, he also played for Hannover 96 in Germany for a short period in 2010. This was a loan, meaning he played for them temporarily.
Later Career and Retirement
In 2016, Ján Ďurica moved to Turkey to play for Trabzonspor, a team in the Süper Lig. He played there for two years. In 2018, he joined Dukla Prague in the Czech Republic. He decided to retire from professional football in 2019 after his club was moved down to a lower league.
Playing for Slovakia
Ján Ďurica also had a long and successful career playing for his home country, Slovakia.
First Major Tournaments
He played his first game for the Slovak senior team in 2004 against Japan. Ďurica was chosen to be part of the Slovak team for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. This was a very big moment, as it was Slovakia's first time playing in this major tournament as an independent country. He played in all four of Slovakia's matches during the World Cup.
UEFA Euro and Retirement from National Team
Ďurica also helped Slovakia reach the UEFA Euro 2016 tournament. He played in all four of Slovakia's games there too. After this tournament, he thought about retiring from international football. He officially retired from playing for Slovakia on November 14, 2017. He played a total of 91 games for his country and scored 4 goals.

In 2020, Ján Ďurica started his own football academy called Mladé levy. This academy is for young children aged six to eleven years old. In 2022, he got engaged to Diana Kačurová, who was a finalist in the Miss Universe 2013 competition. In 2024, they announced they were expecting a child.
