Ján Ďurica (born 10 December 1981) is a Slovak former professional footballer. He played as a central defender, which means he was a key player in stopping opposing teams from scoring. After his playing career, he worked as an assistant manager for FC Petržalka.

Playing for Clubs
Ján Ďurica played for several football clubs during his career. He started his journey in Slovakia before moving to other countries.
Early Club Years
Ďurica began his professional career in Slovakia. He played for DAC 1904 Dunajská Streda. Later, he joined FC Artmedia Petržalka. With Artmedia, he had a very successful time. They even played in the UEFA Champions League, which is a big European football competition.
Moving to Russia and Germany
After his success in Slovakia, Ďurica moved to Russia. He joined FC Saturn Moscow Oblast in 2006. In January 2009, he signed a contract with Lokomotiv Moscow. This was a big move for him. In 2010, he also played for Hannover 96 in Germany for a short time on loan.
Later Club Career
In January 2016, Ďurica moved to Turkey. He signed a two-year contract with Trabzonspor, a team in the Süper Lig. He played there until his contract ended in May 2018.
His last club was Dukla Prague in the Czech Republic. He joined them in September 2018. He played 17 matches and scored 2 goals for the team. After the 2018–19 season, Dukla Prague was moved down to a lower league. Ján Ďurica then decided to retire from professional football.
Playing for Slovakia
Ján Ďurica also had a long and successful career playing for his home country, Slovakia.
First Appearances and World Cup
He made his first appearance for the Slovakia senior team on 9 July 2004. This was during the 2004 Kirin Cup against Japan.
Ďurica was chosen to be part of the Slovak team for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. This was a very special moment. It was the first time Slovakia had ever played in a major tournament as an independent country. He played in all four of Slovakia's matches during that World Cup.
UEFA Euro and Retirement
He also helped Slovakia qualify for the UEFA Euro 2016 tournament. He played in all four of Slovakia's matches there too. After this tournament, Ďurica thought about retiring from international football. He wanted to retire after the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Slovakia did not qualify for the 2018 World Cup. So, Ján Ďurica officially retired from playing for his country on 14 November 2017. His last game was a friendly match against Norway, which Slovakia won 1–0. He played a total of 91 matches for Slovakia and scored 4 goals.

About Ján Ďurica
Ján Ďurica was born in Dunajská Streda, Slovakia. His mother is part of the Hungarian minority in Slovakia.
He also appeared on a TV show called Let's Dance in Slovakia.
In November 2020, Ďurica started his own football academy. It is called Mladé levy, which means "Young Lions." This academy is for children aged six to eleven years old. It began in January 2021.
Ján Ďurica was in a relationship with Magdalena Šebestová until 2019. In 2022, he proposed to Diana Kačurová, who was a finalist in the Miss Universe 2013 competition. On January 1, 2024, it was announced that Ján and Diana were expecting a child.
