Józef Zych (born March 23, 1938) is a Polish lawyer and politician. He was a member of the Polish Parliament, known as the Sejm, for many years. He also held important roles like the Marshal of the Sejm, which is similar to being the speaker of the parliament.

Early Life and Education
From a young age, Józef Zych was involved in scouting. He completed his high school education in Leżajsk in 1956. Later, he studied law at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. He earned his law degree in 1966. In 1976, he received his doctorate degree. His special area of study was labor and social security law. Before becoming a politician, he worked as an attorney. He even became the president of the National Council of Attorneys-at-law.
Political Career
Józef Zych started his political journey in 1975. He joined a party called the United People's Party. In 1989, he was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP). This means he represented people in the Sejm, which is Poland's main law-making body.
Important Roles in Parliament
Józef Zych held many important jobs in the Sejm. From 1991 to 2015, he was elected as an MP several times. He served as a Deputy Marshal of the Sejm. This role is like being a vice-speaker. He also became the Marshal of the Sejm from 1995 to 1997. This is a very important position, similar to the speaker of the parliament. He helped create the 1997 Constitution of Poland. This is the main set of laws for the country.
He also served as the Senior Marshal of the Sejm twice. This person leads the very first meeting of a new parliament. After 2015, Józef Zych continued to be involved in public service. He worked at the State Tribunal, which is a special court. He also advised the Polish Insurance Association.
