Nahum Thorton Grymes (born November 29, 1984), known as J. Holiday, is an American R&B singer and rapper. He is famous for his 2007 song "Bed". This song reached number five on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Early Life and Music Beginnings
Nahum Thorton Grymes was born in Washington, D.C.. His mother raised him in Washington, D.C. and Alexandria, Virginia. His father passed away when J. Holiday was eleven years old.
His mother made sure he finished school and went to church. J. Holiday showed his singing talent in high school. He loved listening to artists like Marvin Gaye and Boyz II Men. After graduating, he started making his own music recordings.
Music Career Highlights
Starting with Back of My Lac
J. Holiday signed with Capitol Records in 2006. He released his first album, Back of My Lac', in October 2007. The album was very successful. It reached number 5 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. It also hit number 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
The song "Bed" was released as the second single. It became a huge hit, reaching number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was also number 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart for five weeks. J. Holiday performed "Bed" on popular TV shows like 106 & Park. The music video for "Suffocate" was filmed in Paris, France.
Round 2 and New Songs
J. Holiday's second album, Round 2, came out in March 2009. It followed his first successful album. Round 2 sold well and reached number 4 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Guilty Conscience and Independent Music

In 2012, J. Holiday left Def Jam Recordings. He released his song "Sign My Name" as an independent artist. He toured a lot for this song. On October 5, 2018, J. Holiday released the song "25 to Life". He also announced his fourth album, Time. Another song, "Feel Like", came out in 2019. He started a tour called "Underrated Part I". The album Time was officially released on February 7, 2022.
