Jacqueline Yvonne Harry (born August 14, 1956), known professionally as Jackée Harry, is an American actress, comedian, and TV star. She is famous for her roles in popular TV shows.

She played Sandra Clark on the NBC sitcom 227 from 1985 to 1990. She also starred as Lisa Landry on the sitcom Sister, Sister from 1994 to 1999. For her work on 227, Jackée became the first African-American to win a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

Jackée also appeared in the 1992 movie Ladybugs with comedian Rodney Dangerfield. Since 2021, she has played the character Paulina Price on the soap opera Days of Our Lives.

Life and Career

Growing Up and Education

Jackée Harry was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in 1956. She grew up in the Harlem neighborhood of New York City. She discovered her love for acting at the High School of the Performing Arts in Manhattan.

After high school, she went to Long Island University and earned a degree in education. For two years, she worked as a history teacher at Brooklyn Technical High School. Soon after, she decided to follow her dream of becoming an actress.

Acting Career

Stage Performances

In 1978, Jackée started her acting career on the big stage of Broadway in a show called A Broadway Musical. Throughout the 1980s, she acted in many plays, both on and off Broadway.

In 1994, she returned to the theater to play the famous singer Billie Holiday in a play called Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill. She later appeared in other stage shows like The Sunshine Boys and A Christmas Carol.

Jackée's first television role was in 1983 on the soap opera Another World. She played Lily Mason on the show for three years. In 1985, she got her big break playing Sandra Clark on the sitcom 227. Her funny and stylish character quickly became a fan favorite. During the show, she and the main star, Marla Gibbs, had some disagreements, but they later became good friends and have worked together since.

Her role on 227 was so popular that producers created a special show for her called Jackée. The first episode was a hit, but it didn't become a full series.

After 227, Jackée starred in many other TV shows. She appeared in The Women of Brewster Place with Oprah Winfrey. From 1991 to 1992, she was in the cast of The Royal Family.

From 1994 to 1999, she played another famous role as Lisa Landry on the sitcom Sister, Sister. She played the adoptive mother of Tia Mowry's character. This role earned her two NAACP Image Awards.

She has also had recurring roles on shows like Everybody Hates Chris and The First Family. In 2020, she joined the cast of the long-running soap opera Days of Our Lives as the powerful businesswoman Paulina Price.

Personal Life

Jackée Harry has been married twice. Her first marriage was to musician Jerry Jemmott. In 1996, she married Elgin Charles Williams. They adopted a son named Frank in 1997. The couple later divorced in 2003.
