History of LIU Post
LIU Post started in 1951. It was created when Long Island University bought the Hillwood estate. This estate belonged to Marjorie Merriweather Post. She sold it for $200,000.
In 1954, the university renamed the campus C.W. Post College. This was done to honor Marjorie's father, C.W. Post. The school has grown a lot since then.
Exploring the Campus
LIU Post is built on about 307 acres (1.24 square kilometers) of land. This area has rolling hills and is located in Brookville, New York. It is on the North Shore of Long Island.
Sometimes, the location is called Greenvale. This is because there is no post office in Brookville. The school uses the zip code served by the Greenvale post office. The Greenvale train station is also nearby.
Main Buildings and Learning Spaces
Many classes are held in Humanities Hall and Life Sciences/Pell Hall. These are the main teaching buildings. Other classes take place in Hoxie Hall, Roth Hall, and Lorber Hall.
