Jackie Venson's Early Life
Jackie Venson was born in Austin, Texas. She grew up as the youngest of nine children. Her father, Andrew Venson, was a professional musician for 40 years. Jackie's mother, Dr. Diane Brinkman, encouraged her to start playing piano at age eight.
Jackie found it hard to practice piano at first. It took her a long time to get good at it. Later, she learned to focus for many hours, like a professional musician.
Jackie attended the Berklee College of Music. She studied how to write music and produce songs. Jackie found the school very competitive. She felt sad during her time there and did not play much music.
One day, she saw a schoolmate playing the guitar easily. He looked like he was having so much fun. This inspired Jackie to try playing the guitar. She started learning guitar in 2011, during her last year at Berklee. Her piano lessons and music theory knowledge helped her learn the new instrument quickly.
