Jacks Creek is a small river, about 15 miles (24 kilometers) long, located in Owyhee County, Idaho, in the United States. It is a tributary of the Bruneau River.
About Jacks Creek
Jacks Creek starts when two smaller streams, Big Jacks Creek and Little Jacks Creek, join together. This happens southwest of a town called Bruneau. At this point, the elevation is about 2,779 feet (847 meters) above sea level.
Where it Flows
From its start, Jacks Creek generally flows towards the northeast. It travels through the landscape until it reaches its end at the C. J. Strike Reservoir. The reservoir is a large body of water formed by a dam. At this point, the elevation of the creek is about 2,457 feet (749 meters).
How Jacks Creek Got Its Name
Jacks Creek was named after a rancher named Jack Turner. He was one of the early settlers in the area, moving there in 1869. People often named natural features like rivers and creeks after important local figures.
