Jacobs is a small town in Ashland County, Wisconsin. In 2020, about 648 people lived there. A smaller community called Glidden is also part of Jacobs.

History of Jacobs

The town of Jacobs is named after William H. Jacobs. He was a German immigrant who came to Wisconsin. William H. Jacobs was a brave soldier during the American Civil War. He was a colonel, which is a high-ranking officer, in the 26th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment.

After the war, he served in the Wisconsin State Senate. This is a group of people who help make laws for the state. He was a senator from 1876 to 1878. The town was named in his honor.
