He learned his skills from a famous artist named Domenico Ghirlandaio. Jacopo also had a brother, Francesco Torni, who was also a painter. Jacopo Torni worked closely with the legendary artist Michelangelo. He even helped Michelangelo paint the amazing ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in Rome. According to a famous writer named Giorgio Vasari, Jacopo and Michelangelo were very good friends. Jacopo also worked with another painter, Bernardino Pinturicchio.
Life and Work in Spain
Jacopo Torni moved to Spain before the year 1520 and settled there. He passed away in a town called Villena. Even today, some of his works as an architect and sculptor can still be seen in the Spanish cities of Granada and Murcia.
