Early Life and Family Background
Jade took the last names of her mother, Lourdes Cristina Boho Sayo. Her mother was from Equatorial Guinea and became a Spanish citizen in August 1980. Five years later, before Jade was born, her mother acted in the film Dust. Jade's father was Spanish and from Valladolid, where her mother lived and worked. Jade never met her father. Jade has lived in Madrid since she was three months old, so she feels like a Madrilenian.
Club Career Highlights
Jade Boho had a long and successful career playing for several football clubs. She played in Spain, England, and Switzerland.
Playing in Spain
Jade played for AD Torrejón CF and Rayo Vallecano. With Rayo Vallecano, she achieved great success. She helped them win three Spanish Championships. She also won one national cup with the team. During her time there, she also played in the UEFA Women's Champions League, which is a big European competition. After her time at Rayo, she played for Atlético Madrid. Later, she returned to Rayo Vallecano for another period. She also played for Madrid CFF, EdF Logroño, and Alhama CF in Spain.
Playing in England
In the summer of 2015, Jade joined Bristol Academy. The team was struggling at the bottom of the FA WSL league table. Even though she traveled a lot for her national team duties in Africa, she scored many goals. Her coach praised her as "inspirational" for her efforts. When Bristol Academy was moved down to a lower league, Jade left the club. She then signed with Reading for the 2016 FA WSL season. However, her stay there was short. She decided to move back to Madrid. Her last game for Reading was on October 30, 2016, against Chelsea.
Playing in Switzerland
Later in her career, from 2021 to 2022, Jade played for Servette in Switzerland.
International Career
Jade Boho had a unique international career, playing for two different countries.
Representing Spain U19
Jade was born and grew up in Spain. However, because her mother was from Equatorial Guinea, she had the choice to play for either country. She chose to play for Spain's under-19 team. In 2004, she was part of the Spanish team that won the UEFA Women's Under-19 Championship. In the final match against Germany, Jade scored the first goal, helping her team win. She also scored two goals in the 2004 FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship.
Playing for Equatorial Guinea
Since 2010, Jade has been a member of the Equatoguinean senior team. Because she had played for Spain in the 2004 FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship, FIFA had her registered as a Spanish player.
Just before the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup, FIFA temporarily stopped Jade from playing in both international and club games for two months. This was because she was playing for Equatorial Guinea after having played for a Spanish national team within the past five years. The Equatoguinean Football Federation did not complete the paperwork to change her FIFA-registered nationality quickly enough. Because of this, she was not allowed to play. As a result, Equatorial Guinea was also removed from qualifying for the 2012 Summer Olympics.
In September 2011, Jade announced she would no longer play for Equatorial Guinea. However, she changed her mind a year later. She went to Malabo for a friendly match against the Democratic Republic of the Congo in June 2012. That same year, she helped Equatorial Guinea win the African Championship.
