His Early Life and Music Journey
Bakhtiyar Mammadov was born in Almaty, Kazakhstan. His father was Azerbaijani, and his mother was Kazakh. He loved music from a young age. He even studied music and management at the Kazakh National Conservatory.
When he started his solo music career, he chose the stage name Jah Khalib. He explained that "Khalib" is a made-up name. "Jah" is a name for God in the Rastafari religion. Some of his first popular songs included "Твои сонные глаза" and "Ты для меня".
Growing Popularity and Awards
Jah Khalib's music quickly became popular. People started listening to his songs not just in Kazakhstan, but in other countries too. He released his first solo album in 2016. It was called "Если че, я Баха".
His talent was recognized by many. In 2015 and 2016, he was listed among the top stars by Forbes Kazakhstan magazine. In June 2017, he won a special award. It was the "Breakthrough of the Year" at the Muz-TV 2017 Prize. In 2018, he received his first Golden Gramophone Award. This was for his song "Медина" in Moscow.
Life and Music Today
In the summer of 2019, Jah Khalib moved to Kyiv. There, he worked on his album called "Выход в свет". This album was released on October 29, 2019. It featured 14 new songs for his fans.
In April 2023, some of his concerts in Moscow and St. Petersburg were canceled. This happened because of his public support for Ukraine.
His Personal Life
Jah Khalib got married in the summer of 2020. In 2022, he shared that his wife is Ukrainian. She also converted to the Islam religion.
