Jaime Domínguez Buj is a Spanish General of the Army. He was the top leader of the Spanish Army, known as the Chief of Staff of the Army (JEME). He held this important role from July 2012 until March 2017.

Jaime Domínguez Buj was born in Valencia, Spain. His birthday is March 15, 1952.
A Career in the Army
Joining the Military
Jaime Domínguez Buj started his journey in the Spanish Army in 1970. Early in his career, he worked in different parts of the Army. He was involved in international affairs and worked in the Ministry of Defense.
Special Training and Skills
He received special training to become a General Staff officer. This means he learned how to plan and manage large military operations. He also studied anti-aircraft artillery, which involves systems for finding and hitting targets in the sky. He learned about the laws of war and how to manage people. He even earned a Master's Degree in International Relations.
Serving in Different Places
His first assignment was in Alicante. Later, he served as a gunner in various places. These included El Aaiún in the Sahara, Ceuta, Cartagena, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and Paterna. These experiences helped him rise through the ranks to become a captain.
Rising Through the Ranks
As a Commander, he joined the General Staff of the "Maestrazgo" Mechanized Division. He also worked in different departments within the Ministry of Defense and the Army General Staff.
Becoming a General
In 2001, as a colonel, he took command of the 73rd Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment in Cartagena. Two years later, he was promoted to lead a department in the Ministry of Defense. After becoming a general, he held several key positions. These included Secretary General of the Army Training and Doctrine Command and head of the Operations Division. In 2010, he became a lieutenant general.
International Missions
General Domínguez Buj also served in United Nations peacekeeping missions. He helped keep peace in El Salvador and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Leading the Army
During his time as Chief of Staff of the Army, a big change happened. The Army was reorganized starting in 2015. This was done to make the different units work better. The goal was to help them respond to new challenges more effectively. He retired in 2017, and his successor, General Varela Salas, took over.
