Jakub Kindl (born 10 February 1987) is a professional ice hockey player from the Czech Republic. He plays as a defenseman, which means he helps protect his team's goal. Jakub currently plays for Storhamar Hockey in Norway's top ice hockey league, the EliteHockey Ligaen. He also played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Detroit Red Wings and Florida Panthers.

Jakub Kindl's Hockey Journey
Jakub Kindl started playing hockey at a young age. When he was a kid, he even played in a big international tournament called the Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament in 2001.
Starting in Junior Hockey
After playing youth hockey, Jakub moved to North America to play junior hockey. He played for the Kitchener Rangers in a league called the OHL. This is a league where young players develop their skills before becoming professionals.
In 2005, when he was 18, Jakub was chosen by the Detroit Red Wings in the NHL Draft. This is a special event where NHL teams pick young players to join their organizations. Jakub was the 19th player picked overall that year!
Before playing in the NHL, Jakub spent time playing for the Grand Rapids Griffins. This team is in the AHL, which is a league where players often play before moving up to the NHL. He played many games for the Griffins, gaining experience.
Making it to the NHL
Jakub made his first appearance in the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings during the 2009-2010 season. He scored his first NHL goal on January 20, 2011.
In 2013, Jakub signed a four-year contract with the Red Wings. He continued to play for them until 2016.
Moving to the Florida Panthers
On February 27, 2016, Jakub was traded from the Red Wings to the Florida Panthers. He played for the Panthers for a while, but after his contract ended, he decided to leave the NHL.
Playing in Europe
After his time in the NHL, Jakub returned to his home country, the Czech Republic. He signed a one-year deal with HC Plzeň in the Czech Extraliga, which is the top league in the Czech Republic. He played there for two seasons.
Later, in 2019, Jakub moved to Germany to play for Kölner Haie in the DEL, Germany's top hockey league.
In December 2022, Jakub signed with Storhamar Hockey in Norway. He liked it there and extended his contract to play for them through the 2023-2024 season.
International Play
Jakub Kindl has also represented his home country, the Czech Republic, in international hockey tournaments. He played for the Czech Republic national team at the 2014 IIHF World Championship. In that tournament, he scored one goal and had two assists in ten games.
