Jakub Krako was born on July 7, 1990, in Žilina, which was then part of Czechoslovakia. He is a fantastic visually impaired alpine skier from Slovakia. Jakub is known for his incredible talent and many achievements in para alpine skiing. He competes with a guide who helps him navigate the ski slopes.

Jakub's Paralympic Journey

Jakub Krako has achieved amazing success at the Paralympic Games. These games are a major international multi-sport event for athletes with disabilities. Jakub has won many medals for Slovakia.

Vancouver 2010: A Golden Start

At the 2010 Winter Paralympics in Vancouver, Canada, Jakub had an incredible performance. He won three gold medals and one silver medal.

  • He earned gold in the Giant Slalom.
  • He also took gold in the Slalom event.
  • His third gold medal was in the Combined event.
  • He also won a silver medal in the Super-G.

Sochi 2014: More Gold

Jakub continued his winning streak at the 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi, Russia.

  • He won another gold medal in the Super-G event.
  • He also secured a silver medal in the Giant Slalom.

Pyeongchang 2018: Adding to the Collection

At the 2018 Winter Paralympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, Jakub added even more medals to his collection.

  • He won his fifth Paralympic gold medal in the Super-G.
  • He also earned three silver medals in the Downhill, Giant Slalom, and Slalom events.

World Championship Achievements

Besides the Paralympics, Jakub Krako has also had great success at the IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships. These championships bring together the best para alpine skiers from around the world.

Early Success: 2009 and 2011

  • In 2009 in Pyeongchang, he won a gold medal in Slalom and two silver medals in Giant Slalom and Super Combined.
  • At the 2011 championships in Sestriere, he won another gold in Slalom. He also took home two silver medals in Giant Slalom and Super Combined, plus a bronze in the Team event.

Recent Championships: 2017, 2019, and 2021

  • In 2017 in Tarvisio, he won a silver medal in Super-G and two bronze medals in Slalom and Super Combined.
  • At the 2019 in Kranjska Gora, he earned two silver medals in Super-G and Super Combined, and a bronze in Downhill.
  • Most recently, at the 2021 in Lillehammer, he won two bronze medals in Downhill and Slalom.
