Jamal Fogarty (born 13 December 1993) is an Australian professional rugby league player. He plays as a halfback (halfback) for the Canberra Raiders team in the National Rugby League (NRL). Before joining the Raiders, he played for the Gold Coast Titans. Jamal has also played for special teams like the Indigenous All Stars and the Prime Minister's XIII.

About Jamal Fogarty
Jamal Fogarty was born in Beaudesert, Queensland, Australia. He is part of the Mununjali clan of the Yugambeh people. Jamal started playing junior rugby league for the Beaudesert Kingfishers. Later, he was signed by the Gold Coast Titans. He went to Palm Beach Currumbin State High School and Beaudesert State High School.
Jamal's Rugby League Journey
Starting His Career
In October 2011, Jamal Fogarty played for the Australian Schoolboys team. From 2012 to 2013, he played for the Gold Coast Titans' NYC team. After that, he moved to their Queensland Cup team, Tweed Heads Seagulls, in 2014.
In 2016, Jamal joined another Queensland Cup team, the Burleigh Bears. He was part of the Burleigh Bears team that won the Queensland Cup in 2016. They beat the Redcliffe Dolphins in the final game. In November 2016, he signed a one-year contract with the Parramatta Eels for the 2017 season.
Playing in the NRL
In June 2017, Jamal was playing for the Eels' feeder club, Wentworthville Magpies. He then got permission to leave and went back to the Burleigh Bears.
Soon after, he signed a contract with the Gold Coast Titans. Less than two weeks after leaving the Eels, he made his first NRL game. This was in round 16 of the 2017 NRL season against the Wests Tigers.
In 2018, Jamal did not play any NRL games for the Gold Coast Titans. He spent the whole year playing for the Burleigh Bears, where he played 17 games.
Big Wins and Captaincy
In 2019, Jamal Fogarty rejoined the Burleigh Bears full-time. He played as the halfback in their Grand Final win against the Wynnum Manly Seagulls. On September 27, Jamal won the Petero Civoniceva Medal at the QRL awards. This is a special award for players in the Queensland Cup.
On March 7, 2020, Jamal signed a two-year deal to play for the Gold Coast Titans again. In round 9 of 2020, he scored his first points in the top league by kicking a conversion. This helped his team win 16-12 against the New Zealand Warriors.
In round 15, Jamal was named the captain of the team because Kevin Proctor was not playing. In that same game, he was almost going to score a try but was chased down by Canberra player Josh Papalii. After the game, Jamal joked about how embarrassed he was. The next week, Jamal scored the winning try as the Gold Coast beat St. George 14-10.
Moving to Canberra
On February 2, 2021, Jamal was chosen to play as halfback for the Indigenous All Stars team. They played against the New Zealand Māori team.
In September 2021, Jamal asked to leave the Gold Coast club. This was because it looked like Toby Sexton would be the main halfback for 2022. Soon after, he signed a three-year deal with the Canberra Raiders.
Playing for the Raiders
On March 2, 2022, Jamal was out of action for four months because of a knee injury. He got this injury during a practice game against Manly.
In round 12 of the 2022 NRL season, Jamal made his first game for Canberra. They lost 28-20 to Parramatta. In round 25, Jamal scored a try and kicked seven goals. This helped Canberra win big, 56-10, against the Wests Tigers. Jamal played 15 games for Canberra in 2022. The team finished 8th and made it to the finals. Canberra was knocked out in the second week of the finals by Parramatta.
In round 9 of the 2023 NRL season, Jamal scored a try and kicked his first ever field goal. This gave Canberra a thrilling 31-30 win in extra time against the Dolphins. In round 14, he scored two tries and kicked a penalty goal with three minutes left. This helped Canberra win 20-19 against the Wests Tigers. Jamal played 24 games for Canberra in 2023. The team finished 8th and made the finals. They lost in extra time to Newcastle in the elimination final.
In round 6 of the 2024 NRL season, Jamal kicked the winning field goal in extra time against his old team, the Gold Coast. This gave Canberra a close 21-20 victory. Jamal played 14 games for Canberra in the 2024 NRL season. The team finished 9th on the ladder.
On April 29, 2025, it was announced that Jamal had decided to leave the Raiders. He joined the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles on a three-year deal. The Sea Eagles officially announced his signing on May 14, 2025.
