Playing Career Highlights

Early Steps in Rugby League

In October 2011, Jamal played for the Australian Schoolboys team. From 2012 to 2013, he played for the Gold Coast Titans' NYC team. After that, he moved up to their Queensland Cup team, Tweed Heads Seagulls, in 2014.

In 2016, he joined another Queensland Cup team, the Burleigh Bears. He was part of the Burleigh Bears team that won the 2016 Queensland Cup. They beat the Redcliffe Dolphins in the final. In November 2016, he signed a one-year contract with the Parramatta Eels for the 2017 season.

2017: NRL Debut

In June 2017, Jamal was playing for the Eels' feeder club, Wentworthville Magpies. He was then allowed to leave the Eels and return to the Burleigh Bears.

Less than two weeks after leaving the Eels, he signed a contract with the Gold Coast Titans. He made his first NRL appearance for the Titans in Round 16 of the 2017 NRL season against the Wests Tigers.

2018-2019: Back with Burleigh Bears

Jamal did not play any NRL games for the Gold Coast Titans in 2018. He spent that year playing for the Burleigh Bears, where he played 17 matches.

In 2019, Fogarty rejoined the Burleigh Bears full-time. He played as the halfback when they won the Grand Final against the Wynnum Manly Seagulls. On September 27, Jamal won the Petero Civoniceva Medal at the QRL awards, which is a big award for players in the Queensland Cup.

2020: Return to the Titans and Captaincy

On March 7, 2020, Jamal signed a two-year deal to play for the Gold Coast Titans again. In Round 9 of 2020, he scored his first points in the top league by kicking a conversion in their 16-12 win over the New Zealand Warriors. In Round 15, Jamal was named captain of the team because their usual captain, Kevin Proctor, was not playing. In the same game, a funny moment happened when Canberra player Josh Papalii chased him down when he looked like he was about to score a try. After the game, Jamal joked about how embarrassed he was. The next week, Fogarty scored the winning try for the Gold Coast as they beat St. George 14-10.

2021: Indigenous All Stars and New Team

On February 2, Jamal was chosen to play as halfback for the Indigenous All Stars team. They played against the New Zealand Māori team.

In September 2021, Jamal asked to leave the Gold Coast club. This was because it seemed like another player, Toby Sexton, would be the starting halfback for 2022. Soon after, he signed a three-year deal with the Canberra Raiders.

2022: Joining the Raiders

On March 2, Jamal was ruled out for four months due to a knee injury. He got the injury during Canberra's practice game against Manly. In Round 12 of the 2022 NRL season, Fogarty made his first game for Canberra. They lost 28-20 to Parramatta. In Round 25, Jamal scored a try and kicked seven goals in Canberra's big 56-10 win over the Wests Tigers. Jamal played 15 games for Canberra in 2022. The team finished 8th and made it to the finals. He played in both finals matches, but Canberra was knocked out by Parramatta in the second week.

2023: Golden Point Wins

In Round 9 of the 2023 NRL season, Jamal scored a try and kicked his first ever field goal. This gave Canberra a thrilling 31-30 win in extra time against the Dolphins. In Round 14, Fogarty scored two tries and kicked a penalty goal with just three minutes left. This helped Canberra win the game 20-19 against the Wests Tigers. Jamal played 24 matches for Canberra in the 2023 NRL season. The team finished 8th and made the finals again. He played in Canberra's extra-time loss to Newcastle in the elimination final.

2024: Another Winning Field Goal

In Round 6 of the 2024 NRL season, Jamal kicked the winning field goal for Canberra in extra time. This was against his old club, the Gold Coast, and gave Canberra a 21-20 victory. Fogarty played 14 matches for Canberra in the 2024 NRL season. The club finished 9th on the table.
