College Basketball Journey
Jamel Artis went to Notre Dame Prep in Massachusetts. On April 12, 2013, he decided to play college basketball for the Pittsburgh Panthers.
As a first-year student, called a freshman, Artis played as a power forward. This means he played close to the basket, helping with scoring and rebounding. He often came off the bench, meaning he wasn't a starter but came into the game to help his team.
Jamel's skills improved over time. After the 2014–15 season, he was named to the All-ACC third team. This is a special honor for top players in the Atlantic Coast Conference. In his final year, as a senior, he received an All-ACC honorable mention, showing he was still one of the best players.
