James Donald Charteris, born on 22 June 1948, is also known as Jamie Neidpath. He holds the titles of the 13th Earl of Wemyss and 9th Earl of March. He is a British noble, which means he is a member of the peerage. He also owns a lot of land.

Early Life and Education
James Charteris is the second son of Francis David Charteris, who was the 12th Earl of Wemyss. His mother was Mavis Murray.
He went to Eton College, a famous school in England. When he was a teenager, he had a special role as a Page of Honour to the Queen Mother.
After Eton, he studied at Oxford University. He earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in 1969 and a Master of Arts (MA) degree in 1974. He also completed a DPhil, which is a high-level university degree, from St Antony's College, Oxford in 1975. Later, in 1978, he received a diploma from the Royal Agricultural College.
His Work and Titles
James Charteris manages a company called Alro Group. This company deals with property and land.
He became the person next in line to inherit the titles of Earl of Wemyss and Earl of March after his older brother passed away in 1954. From then on, he was known as Lord Neidpath.
In 2005, he was given the role of a Deputy Lieutenant for Gloucestershire. A Deputy Lieutenant is a special helper to the King or Queen's representative in a county. He has also supported a political party by giving them money.
Family Life
James Charteris has been married twice. In July 1983, he married Catherine Guinness. They had a son named Francis Richard, who is known as Dick. Dick is the next in line to inherit the earldoms. They also have a daughter, Lady Mary Charteris, who is a model and singer. James and Catherine divorced in 1988.
He later married Amanda Feilding in January 1995. Amanda Feilding started a foundation called The Beckley Foundation in 1998. This foundation supports scientific research.
James and Amanda live in two main homes: Stanway House in Gloucestershire and Gosford House in East Lothian.
His uncle, Martin Charteris, Baron Charteris of Amisfield, held an important job. He was the Private Secretary to Queen Elizabeth II.
