James Percivell Hardy (born December 1, 1956 – died December 29, 2020) was an American professional basketball player. He was known for playing the forward position. James Hardy played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1978 to 1982. He also played basketball in college at the University of San Francisco. Standing 6 feet 9 inches (206 cm) tall and weighing 220 pounds (100 kg), he often played as a power forward.
Playing in the NBA
James Hardy was chosen as the 11th player overall in the 1978 NBA draft. He was picked by the New Orleans Jazz team. He played for the Jazz for four seasons. The team later moved to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1979. During his time with the Jazz, he scored about 5.7 points per game. He also grabbed about 5.3 rebounds and made 1.3 assists per game.
Later Career and Life
After his time in the NBA, James Hardy continued his basketball career. He played for several teams in different leagues. He played for the Anchorage Northern Knights and the Crispa Redmanizers. He also played internationally in countries like Italy, France, and Spain. Some of his international teams included A.P.U. Udinese, Mister Day Siena, Paris Basket Racing, Olympique Antibes, and CB Ourense.
