James Jonathon Wilby (born on February 20, 1958) is an English actor. He is well-known for his roles in many films and TV shows. He has won awards for his acting, showing how talented he is.

Early Life and Education
James Wilby was born in Rangoon, Burma. His father worked as a business executive. James went to school at Terrington Hall School in North Yorkshire and Sedbergh School in Cumbria. After that, he studied Mathematics at Grey College, which is part of Durham University. He then went on to train as an actor at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA).
Career Highlights
James Wilby started his acting career on screen in 1982 with a film called Privileged. He acted alongside Hugh Grant in this movie. They worked together again in the 1987 film Maurice. This movie helped James become known around the world. He and Hugh Grant even won an award for Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival for their work in Maurice.
In 1988, James starred in A Handful of Dust, and he won another Best Actor award for this role at the Bari Film Festival. He has also appeared in many other popular films, including Howards End (1992), Regeneration (1997), and Gosford Park (2001).
Besides films, James Wilby has also acted on stage in many plays. In 1995, he was in A Patriot for Me with the Royal Shakespeare Company. He also performed in plays like Don Juan and The Consultant. He has toured with plays such as Less Than Kind and Gaslight.
Personal Life
James Wilby is married to Shana Louise. They have four children together. For many years, from 1994 to 2015, James owned a historic house called The Laines in Plumpton, East Sussex. This house was once the childhood home of Queen Camilla.
