Andrew James Matfin Bell (born 14 March 1986) is an English actor famous for his roles in movies and television. He became a star as a teenager in the film Billy Elliot (2000). For that role, he won a BAFTA Award, which is a major British film award. He was the youngest person ever to win in that category.
Many people also know him as the voice of Tintin in the animated movie The Adventures of Tintin (2011). He also played Ben Grimm, also known as The Thing, in the superhero movie Fantastic Four (2015).

Early Life and Dance
Jamie Bell was born in Billingham, England. He grew up with his mother, Eileen, and his older sister, Kathryn. His father, a toolmaker, left before Jamie was born.
Bell's journey into performing began in an interesting way. He started dancing after going with his sister to her ballet classes. This love for dance would later help him land his most famous role.
Acting Career
Breakthrough with Billy Elliot
In 1999, Bell was chosen from over 2,000 boys to play the main character in Billy Elliot. The movie is about an 11-year-old boy from a working-class family who secretly takes up ballet.
His performance was a huge success. At just 14 years old, Bell won many awards, including the BAFTA for Best Actor. His amazing performance made him a star around the world.
Famous Roles
After Billy Elliot, Bell acted in many different kinds of films. In 2005, he appeared in the action-adventure movie King Kong. He also starred in the science-fiction film Jumper (2008) and the World War II drama Defiance (2008).
In 2011, he became the voice of the famous comic book character Tintin in the movie The Adventures of Tintin, which used special motion-capture technology to bring the character to life.
From 2014 to 2017, Bell starred in the TV series Turn: Washington's Spies. He played Abraham Woodhull, a spy during the American Revolutionary War.
More Recent Films
In 2015, Bell played The Thing in a new Fantastic Four movie. The film was not popular with critics or audiences. Bell himself later joked about it, saying, "Save your money, save your time."
He received another BAFTA nomination for his leading role in Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool (2017). In 2019, he played Bernie Taupin, the songwriter for Elton John, in the musical movie Rocketman. More recently, he appeared in the highly praised 2023 film All of Us Strangers.
Personal Life
Jamie Bell was married to American actress Evan Rachel Wood from 2012 to 2014. They have one son together.
In 2015, Bell began dating actress Kate Mara, who was his co-star in Fantastic Four. They got married in 2017. The couple has a daughter, born in 2019, and a son, born in 2022.
Bell is a big fan of football and supports the team Arsenal F.C.
