Jamie Gauthier is an American politician from the Democratic Party. She is a member of the Philadelphia City Council. In 2019, she was elected to represent the Third District. This district covers a large part of West Philadelphia and Southwest Philadelphia.

About Jamie Gauthier
Her Early Life and Education
Jamie Gauthier was born in the Kingsessing neighborhood of Philadelphia. Her father, Leon Williams, ran for District Attorney of Philadelphia twice.
Jamie studied Accounting at Temple University. She later earned a Masters degree in City Planning from the University of Pennsylvania. Before getting her masters degree, she worked as an accountant for two years.
Becoming a Community Leader
Jamie Gauthier has always been passionate about helping her community. She started an organization called Mommy Grads. This group helps single mothers raise their children while they attend college.
She also worked for several important organizations. She was a program officer for the Local Initiatives Support Corporation. From 2013 to 2017, she was the executive director of the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia. In 2017, she became the executive director of the Fairmount Park Conservancy.
Joining the Philadelphia City Council
In January 2019, Jamie Gauthier decided to run for a seat on the Philadelphia City Council. She challenged Jannie Blackwell, who had been representing the Third District since 1992. Blackwell's husband had held the seat for 17 years before her.
Jamie Gauthier won the election in May 2019. This was seen as a big surprise because Blackwell had been in office for a long time. Jamie Gauthier did not face any opponents in the final election.
As a City Council member, Jamie Gauthier works on important issues. In 2024, she proposed a new law to allow a building with 104 affordable apartments. This building would be located at 50th and Warrington Streets.
Her Family Life
Jamie Gauthier lives in the Kingsessing neighborhood, where she grew up. She lives there with her two sons. Her sister, Samantha Williams, also works in public service. She was elected as a Judge in Philadelphia's Court of Common Pleas in 2023.
