Jamie Newman, born on December 1, 1997, is an American football player. He played college football as a quarterback for Wake Forest University. He later transferred to the University of Georgia but chose not to play in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2021, he signed with the Philadelphia Eagles but was released before the season started. He then played for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the Canadian Football League (CFL) in 2022.

Early Life and High School Football
Jamie Newman grew up in Graham, North Carolina. He went to Graham High School. During his time there, he was the starting quarterback for all four years.
He was a talented player in high school. After graduating, he decided to play college football at Wake Forest University.
College Football Career
Jamie Newman played college football for two different teams. He started at Wake Forest and later transferred to Georgia.
Playing for Wake Forest University
Newman began his college career at Wake Forest in 2016. He spent his first year as a "redshirt" player, meaning he practiced but did not play in games.
In 2017, he was a backup quarterback. He completed two passes for eight yards. In 2018, he started the last four games after the main quarterback got hurt. He was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2018 Birmingham Bowl. In that game, he threw for 328 yards and one touchdown.
For the 2018 season, he completed 84 passes for 1,083 yards. He also threw nine touchdowns and four interceptions. In 2019, Newman became the starting quarterback for Wake Forest.
Transferring to the University of Georgia
In January 2020, Newman announced he would transfer to the University of Georgia. This was for his final year of college eligibility.
However, in September of that year, he made a big decision. He announced he would not play in the 2020 season. This was due to concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of this, Jamie Newman never played a single game for the Georgia Bulldogs.

Playing for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats
On February 6, 2022, Newman signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. This team plays in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He scored his first touchdown on July 28, 2022, in a game against the Montreal Alouettes.
Newman made his first CFL start on September 5, 2022. This happened because the starting quarterback, Dane Evans, was injured. In his first start, Newman completed 14 of 25 passes for 171 yards. He also threw one interception. The Tiger-Cats lost that game to the Toronto Argonauts.
