Stephen Dane Evans (born November 19, 1993) is an American former professional football quarterback. He played for six seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL). Dane was part of the Philadelphia Eagles, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and BC Lions teams. He played college football at the University of Tulsa.

College Football Career
Dane Evans was a talented quarterback during his college years. In 2014, as a sophomore, he threw for over 3,100 yards. The next year, in 2015, he completed 305 passes for an amazing 4,332 yards. He also scored 25 touchdowns that season.
As a senior in 2016, he continued to play well. He passed for 3,348 yards and scored 32 touchdowns. His college career showed he was a strong player.

Professional Football Career
After college, Dane Evans hoped to play in the NFL. He was considered one of the top quarterbacks in the 2017 NFL draft.
Joining the Philadelphia Eagles
Even though he wasn't chosen in the 2017 NFL Draft, Dane Evans still got a chance. He signed with the Philadelphia Eagles on June 30, 2017. However, he was later released from the team on September 1, 2017.
Playing for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats
Dane Evans then moved to the Canadian Football League (CFL). On October 3, 2017, he joined the practice team for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He was moved to the main team a month later.
His first CFL start was on November 3, 2018. He threw for 315 yards in a close game. He played in three games that season.
In 2019, Dane signed a contract to stay with the Tiger-Cats. He started the season as a backup quarterback. But when the main quarterback, Jeremiah Masoli, got injured, Dane stepped up. He led the team to a big win.
Dane became the starting quarterback for most of the 2019 season. He helped the Tiger-Cats finish first in their division. He threw for 3,754 yards and 21 touchdowns. He also led his team to the 107th Grey Cup, which is like the Super Bowl of Canadian football. They lost the championship game.
The 2020 CFL season was canceled because of the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2021, Dane was again a backup. He became a starter for some games but got injured. He returned later in the season. He helped the Tiger-Cats reach the 108th Grey Cup again. He started the Grey Cup game but got injured and had to leave. The Tiger-Cats lost in overtime.
In 2022, Dane Evans signed a new contract with Hamilton. He started the season as the main quarterback. He played through a shoulder injury during the season. By the end of 2022, the team decided to sign another quarterback, so Dane's future with the Tiger-Cats was uncertain.
Moving to the BC Lions
On February 23, 2023, Dane Evans was traded to the BC Lions. He agreed to a new contract. He would compete for the second-string quarterback spot behind Vernon Adams Jr.
In Week 6 of the 2023 season, Adams got injured. Dane came in and helped the Lions win. He started two games that year and played in 16 total. He completed 71 passes for 829 yards and four touchdowns. On January 1, 2024, Dane Evans announced that he was retiring from professional football.

Personal Life and Heritage
Dane Evans has Native American roots. He is a member of the Wichita people. His great-grandmother, Doris McLemore, was very special. She was the last person who could speak the Wichita language fluently.
