The Jammu Kashmir Peoples Party (JKPP) is a political party. It works in a special area called Azad Kashmir. This area is part of Pakistan administered Kashmir. The larger region of Kashmir is a place that three countries disagree about. Pakistan controls one part, India controls another, and China controls a third part. The JKPP's main focus is on the politics within Azad Kashmir.
How the Party Started
The Jammu Kashmir Peoples Party was created on July 19, 1990. It was started by politicians who shared similar ideas. They worked under the guidance of Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan. He is known as the founder of Azad Kashmir. In 1947, Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan led a fight for freedom against the Dogra rulers. The JKPP was formed to give people a way to work for independence and to make their society better.
First Big Meeting
The first large meeting, or convention, for the Jammu Kashmir Peoples Party happened in Islamabad on December 9, 1992. During this meeting, a group of 200 members, called the Central Council, voted for the party's first president. This was done following democratic principles, which means everyone had a fair say. After this meeting, the party officially began its work.
Helping After the 2005 Earthquake
On October 8, 2005, a very strong earthquake hit the region. This disaster was too big for the government alone to handle. Many people and groups came forward to help. The Jammu Kashmir Peoples Party, along with other social and religious groups, helped the earthquake victims. They provided support and assistance to those who were affected.
