Jamuna River facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

The Jamuna River is a really important river in Bangladesh. It's one of the three biggest rivers there! This river starts in India and then flows into Bangladesh. It's actually a main part of the huge Brahmaputra River.

The Jamuna flows towards the south. It meets two other big rivers, the Padma River and the Meghna River. These rivers join up near places called Goalundo Ghat and Chandpur. After they all come together, their waters flow into the big Bay of Bengal.

The Jamuna is known for being super wide! When it's the dry season, the river is about 2 miles (3.2 kilometers) wide from one bank to the other. But when the rainy season comes, it gets much wider, almost 5 miles (8 kilometers) across! This river is also very important for moving people and goods around.
