Jan Jutte facts for kids

Jan Jutte (born October 1, 1953) is a super talented Dutch artist. He draws amazing pictures for children's books! He has won a special award called the Gouden Penseel (which means Golden Brush) many times for his fantastic illustrations.

Jan Jutte's Artistic Journey

Starting as an Illustrator

Jan Jutte began his journey as an illustrator in 1983. His very first drawings appeared in a book by Annie M. G. Schmidt. This book was called Het Beertje Pippeloentje.

After that, Jan Jutte drew pictures for many other Dutch authors. Some of these famous writers include Toon Tellegen, Guus Kuijer, and Edward van de Vendel. He also worked with Bibi Dumon Tak, Ienne Biemans, and Doeschka Meijsing.

Winning Big Awards

In 1993, Jan Jutte illustrated a book named Lui Lei Enzo. This book was written by Rindert Kromhout. For this book, Rindert Kromhout won the Zilveren Griffel award. Jan Jutte also won a big prize, the Gouden Penseel award, for his wonderful drawings in the same book.

He won the Gouden Penseel award again in 2001. This was for his illustrations in Tien stoute katjes (Ten Naughty Kittens). This book was written by Mensje van Keulen. Jan Jutte won the award a third time in 2004. This time it was for the book Een muts voor de maan (A Hat for the Moon). Sjoerd Kuyper wrote that book.
