Jan Polák started playing football when he was young. He played for clubs like FC Zbrojovka Brno and Tatran Bohunice.
Success with Czech Under-21 Team
Polák was a key player for the Czech Republic's Under-21 team. In 2002, he helped his team win the European Under-21 Football Championship. Famous players like Petr Čech and Milan Baroš were also on that team. Jan Polák holds the record for the most games played for the Czech Republic Under-21 team, with 45 appearances.
Moving to Top European Clubs
In 2005, Polák moved from the Czech team FC Slovan Liberec to 1. FC Nürnberg in Germany. This was a big move to the Bundesliga, one of Europe's top leagues. That same year, he also started playing for the main Czech national team.
