About Jane Dyer
Jane Dyer grew up in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Before becoming a full-time children's book illustrator, she taught. She also wrote and illustrated textbooks.
Her students and their parents encouraged her to start illustrating children's books. Jane finds inspiration in the books she read as a child. She also loves the old clothes her mother saved from her own childhood. Jane enjoyed dressing up in these clothes when she was little.
Her Art and Family
Most of Jane Dyer's children's books show scenes of family life or homes. Jane is a twin herself. She often works on books with her daughter, Brooke Dyer.
Jane also has a Tibetan Terrier dog named Scuppers. In 2015, Jane Dyer visited the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art. This museum is in Amherst, Massachusetts. She read Lucky and Squash aloud there. She also talked about how she creates art for picture books.
