Jeanne Aline Herveux, also known as Jane Herveu, (1885–1955) was a brave French pilot. She was one of the first women to fly airplanes! Jane got her pilot's license on December 7, 1910. This was a very big deal at the time.

Jane Herveu's Amazing Life

Early Adventures

Jane Herveu was born in Paris, France, on December 10, 1885. Before she became a pilot, she was already famous for her driving skills. She drove cars at exciting shows, like the one at the Crystal Palace in London. Jane also took part in car and motorcycle races across France. She loved speed and adventure!

Taking to the Skies

Jane wanted to fly, so she went to the Blériot flying school. On December 7, 1910, she earned her French pilot's license, number 318. This made her the fourth woman in France to become a licensed pilot! The other pioneering women were Elise Deroche, Marthe Niel, and Marie Marvingt.

Jane showed off her flying skills at an exhibition in Lyon from May 28 to June 8, 1911. She made several other appearances too. In 1911, she even competed in the Femina Cup, a special flying competition. Later, she tried to open a flying school just for women, but it didn't quite work out.

Life After Flying

In 1913, Jane married Paul Boulzaguet. After the First World War ended, she moved to the United States. There, she worked in the fashion industry. Jane Herveu passed away on January 14, 1955. She will always be remembered as a true pioneer in aviation!
