Jane's Early Life and Art Training

Jane Simpson was born in Swansea, Wales. She loved art from a young age. She went to the Chelsea School of Art in London. She finished her studies there in 1988. Later, in 1993, she earned a special art degree. This degree, called an MFA, is like a master's degree in fine arts. She got it from the Royal Academy of Art in London.

How Jane Creates Her Art

Jane Simpson is well known for her unique sculptures. She uses many different materials and methods. For example, she uses rubber to make casts of objects. She has even connected sewing machines to special cooling units. This makes the sewing machines get covered in a layer of frost! Jane once said about her art, "I think of it as a marriage of two different technologies." This means she brings together different ways of making things.

Jane also helps manage a collection of art prints. This collection is called House of Fairy Tales. It includes works by other famous artists. Some of these artists are Dexter Dalwood, Cornelia Parker, Sir Peter Blake, and Gavin Turk.

In 2014, Jane moved back to live in Swansea. She opened her own art gallery in the city.
