Jane Simpson, born in 1965, is a British artist. She lives and works in Carmarthenshire, Wales. Jane is famous for making sculptures. She uses many different materials. Growing Up and Learning Art

Jane Simpson was born in Swansea, Wales. She studied art in London. In 1988, she finished her studies at the Chelsea School of Art. Later, in 1993, she earned a special art degree. This was from the Royal Academy of Art in London.

In 1994, Jane's art was shown in an important exhibition. It was called Some Went Mad, Some Ran Away. Famous artist Damien Hirst helped organize it. This show was at the Serpentine Gallery in London. Her art was also in the Sensation exhibition in 1997. This show got a lot of attention.

Her Art and Career

Jane Simpson is known for her unique sculptures. She uses many different materials and methods. For example, she uses rubber to make casts. She also connects sewing machines to special cooling units. This makes the machines get covered in a layer of frost.

Jane once said about her art: "I think of it as a marriage of two different technologies." This means she likes to combine different ways of making things.

Jane also helps manage a collection of art prints. It is called House of Fairy Tales. This collection includes works by other famous artists. Some of these are Dexter Dalwood, Cornelia Parker, Sir Peter Blake, and Gavin Turk.

In 2014, Jane moved back to Swansea. She opened her own art gallery there.

Her art is also in private collections. These include Damien Hirst's Murderme Collection. Four of her works were once in the Saatchi Collection.

In 2000, the Tate museum bought her artwork Sunset Still Life. This was a print of a photograph. It showed everyday items like Tupperware and plastic cups. The Tate also bought her lithograph Swiss Cottage in 2008.
