Janine Boyd (born February 5, 1971) is an American politician. She has served in important roles, including being a member of the Ohio House of Representatives. She also worked for the United States Department of Health and Human Services. More recently, she was part of the city council in Cleveland Heights.

Early Life and Education
Janine Boyd grew up in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. She went to Beaumont School. After high school, she studied Spanish at Hillsdale College. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1993. Later, in 1999, she received a Master of Arts degree. This degree was in speech and language pathology from Michigan State University.
Janine Boyd's mother, Barbara Boyd, was also a politician. Her mother held the same seat in the Ohio House of Representatives. She served from 1993 to 2000 and again from 2007 to 2014.
Political Career
Before joining the state legislature, Janine Boyd served on the city council for Cleveland Heights. In 2012, she was chosen to join the council.
Ohio House of Representatives
In 2014, Janine Boyd decided to run for the Ohio House of Representatives. She wanted to take over the seat her mother, Barbara Boyd, was leaving. She won the election with a large majority of the votes. She served as a state representative from 2015 until April 2022.
During her time in the Ohio House, she worked on various laws. For example, during a discussion about a bill related to health, Janine Boyd suggested an idea for an amendment. This amendment aimed to add a special consideration to the bill. However, her amendment did not pass.
Federal Government Role
In April 2022, Janine Boyd was appointed by President Joe Biden. She became a regional director for the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). This role covered a large area, including the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin. She worked in this position for several months.
Return to Cleveland Heights City Council
In late 2022, Janine Boyd left her job at the HHS. She returned to Cleveland Heights to care for her mother. Her mother passed away in November 2022.
In February 2023, the Mayor of Cleveland Heights, Kahlil Seren, appointed Janine Boyd. She filled an open spot on the Cleveland Heights City Council. She was elected in November 2023 to serve a full four-year term. However, she resigned on March 18, 2024, because her family moved. In April 2024, Jim Posch was appointed to take her place on the council.
