January Kristen Jones (born January 5, 1978) is an American actress. She is well-known for her role as Betty Draper in the TV show Mad Men (2007–2015). For this role, she was nominated for two Golden Globe Awards and an Emmy Award.
January also played Melissa Chartres in The Last Man on Earth (2015–2018). She has appeared in movies like American Wedding (2003), We Are Marshall (2006), The Boat That Rocked (2009), Unknown (2011), Seeking Justice (2011), and X-Men: First Class (2011).

Early Life and Education
January Kristen Jones was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on January 5, 1978. Her mother, Karen Cox, was a store manager, and her father, Marvin Jones, was an exercise physiologist. She was named after a character from a 1973 novel. Her two sisters are named Jina and Jacey.
In 1979, her family moved to Hecla, South Dakota. They later moved back to Sioux Falls in 1996. January graduated from Roosevelt High School in Sioux Falls.

Starting as a Model
January Jones began modeling in New York when she was 18. A modeling scout noticed her while she was still in high school. She has said that modeling was not her main passion.
She modeled for famous brands like Abercrombie & Fitch, Versace, Clearasil, and Kérastase. January has also been featured on the covers of many international fashion magazines. These include Interview, Allure, Rolling Stone, and GQ.
