This village is just west of a small town called Jeddo. Both Japan and Jeddo got their names from the Hazleton Coal Company. This company named them after the Japanese port city of Jeddo. It's a cool way to connect a small American village to a faraway place!
The village of Japan is also close to other communities. It's south of Drifton and Freeland. To the east, you'll find Jeddo and Eckley. If you head southwest, you'll reach the city of Hazleton.

Japan village has a small stream called the Black Creek. This creek flows westward. It eventually joins the Nescopeck Creek. From there, the water makes its way into the large Susquehanna River. Rivers and creeks are important for the local environment and wildlife.
