Welcome to Japan, Pennsylvania!

Japan is a unique little village. It's not the country in Asia, but a small community right here in Pennsylvania! It's known for its interesting name and its location near other towns.

Where is Japan Located?

This village is just west of a small town called Jeddo. Both Japan and Jeddo got their names from the Hazleton Coal Company. This company named them after the Japanese port city of Jeddo. It's a cool way to connect a small American village to a faraway place!

The village of Japan is also close to other communities. It's south of Drifton and Freeland. To the east, you'll find Jeddo and Eckley. If you head southwest, you'll reach the city of Hazleton.

Local Waterways

Japan village has a small stream called the Black Creek. This creek flows westward. It eventually joins the Nescopeck Creek. From there, the water makes its way into the large Susquehanna River. Rivers and creeks are important for the local environment and wildlife.

What's a Zip Code?

Like many places, Japan village is divided into different zip code areas. A zip code is a special number that helps the post office sort mail. Parts of Japan are in the Hazleton zip codes 18201 and 18202. This means that mail sent to different parts of the village might have a slightly different number.
