Where Did Jeddo Get Its Name?
Jeddo has an interesting history behind its name! It was first known as "Japan-Jeddo." This name came from a Japanese port city called Edo, which was often spelled "Jeddo" in English back then.
When Jeddo officially became a borough on October 23, 1871, its name was shortened to just "Jeddo." However, some people still used the old name, "Japan-Jeddo." This changed after the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, which caused the United States to join World War II. After that, locals stopped using "Japan-Jeddo" and only called it "Jeddo."
