Jared Malcolm Xavier Sullinger (born March 4, 1992) is an American professional basketball player. He plays for the Beijing Royal Fighters in China's top basketball league, the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). Before becoming a pro, he played college basketball for the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Boston Celtics picked him 21st in the 2012 NBA draft.

High School Basketball Star
Jared Sullinger was a top basketball player in high school. Experts rated him as one of the best players in the class of 2010. He played for Northland High School in Columbus, Ohio.
In his final year, Jared led his team to a perfect 21–0 season. They were even ranked number one nationally. He scored about 24.5 points and grabbed 11.7 rebounds per game.
Jared was chosen for the 2010 McDonald's All-American Boys Game in his hometown. He was named co-MVP of the game. He also played in other big games like the 2010 Nike Hoop Summit and the 2010 Jordan Brand Classic. In 2010, Jared won the James A. Naismith Award. This award goes to the best high school basketball player in the country.
College Career at Ohio State
Jared Sullinger decided to play college basketball for the Ohio State Buckeyes. He committed to the team in 2007.
Freshman Year Success
In his first game for Ohio State, Jared scored 19 points and had 14 rebounds. His brother, J.J. Sullinger, also played for Ohio State. During the 2010–11 season, Jared averaged 17.2 points and 10.2 rebounds per game.
He helped the Buckeyes win the 2011 Big Ten men's basketball tournament. Jared was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player. Ohio State ended the season with a 32–2 record. They were the top team in the NCAA tournament. The Buckeyes reached the "Sweet Sixteen" but lost to Kentucky. Jared was named a First Team All-American.
Sophomore Year and the Final Four
In his second and final year at Ohio State (2011–12), Jared continued to play well. He averaged 17.5 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. He led the Buckeyes to a 31–8 record.
The team made it to the "Final Four" of the 2012 NCAA tournament. They lost to the Kansas Jayhawks. After this, Jared decided to enter the 2012 NBA draft.

Professional Basketball Career
Boston Celtics (2012–2016)
Joining the NBA
On June 29, 2012, the Boston Celtics picked Jared Sullinger as the 21st player in the 2012 NBA draft. He signed his first contract with the Celtics on July 3. On November 17, he achieved his first double-double (double-digit points and rebounds) with 12 points and 11 rebounds. This helped the Celtics win against the Toronto Raptors.
In February 2013, Jared had back surgery. This meant he could not play for the rest of that season.
Strong Performances
Jared came back strong for the 2013–14 season. On January 15, 2014, he scored 25 points and grabbed a career-high 20 rebounds. This was the first time a Celtics player had a "20-20" game since Kevin Garnett in 2007. On February 7, he scored a career-high 31 points in a win against the Sacramento Kings.
Injuries and Return
During the 2014–15 season, Jared was playing well, averaging 14.4 points and 8.1 rebounds. However, in February 2015, he found out he had a stress fracture in his left foot. Doctors initially thought he would miss the rest of the season. But Jared surprised everyone by returning to play in April.
For the 2015–16 season, Jared started as a bench player. He later became a starter. On December 7, 2015, he tied his career high with 20 rebounds in a win over the New Orleans Pelicans. He also tied his season high with 21 points in February 2016. In July 2016, the Celtics decided not to keep him, making him a free agent.
Toronto Raptors (2016–2017)
Jared signed a one-year contract with the Toronto Raptors in July 2016. He had another foot surgery in October 2016, which made him miss the first half of the season. He finally played his first game for the Raptors on January 18, 2017.
He also spent some time playing for the Raptors' minor league team, Raptors 905, to help him recover. In February 2017, Jared was traded to the Phoenix Suns, but they waived him the next day.
Playing in China and Korea
Shenzhen Leopards (2017–2018)
In September 2017, Jared signed a one-year deal with the Shenzhen Leopards in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). He played so well that he re-signed with them in August 2018. On January 16, 2018, Jared had an amazing game, scoring 40 points and grabbing 31 rebounds. This is a rare achievement in the CBA.
Anyang KGC (2021)
In February 2021, Jared joined Anyang KGC in the Korean league. He helped his team win the league championship. He averaged 27.1 points and 12.3 rebounds per game.
Return to the Leopards (2021–2024)
Jared returned to the Shenzhen Leopards in December 2021. In April 2024, he was named the CBA International Most Valuable Player. He averaged 21.8 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 4 assists per game that season.
Beijing Royal Fighters (2024-present)
In December 2024, Jared Sullinger began playing for the Beijing Royal Fighters in the Chinese Basketball Association.
