Jasmine Cephas Jones (born July 21, 1989) is a talented American-British actress and singer. She is best known for playing two characters in the famous Broadway musical Hamilton. These roles were Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds. Her singing on the Hamilton cast album helped her win a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. In 2020, Jasmine also won a Creative Arts Emmy for her role as Tyisha in the show #freerayshawn.

Early Life and Education
Jasmine Cephas Jones was born on July 21, 1989, in London, England. She grew up in Midwood, Brooklyn, in the United States. Her father was the actor Ron Cephas Jones (1957-2023). Her mother is Kim Lesley, a jazz singer from Britain.
Jasmine went to a special school for music and performing arts called Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School. She also studied at Berklee College of Music. She finished her acting training at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in 2011.
Her Acting Career
Jasmine has appeared in several independent films. These include Titus (2013) and Fairfield (2014). She has also been in episodes of popular TV shows. Some of these are Blue Bloods, Unforgettable, and Mrs. Fletcher.
Starring in Hamilton
In 2015, Jasmine started playing Maria Reynolds and Peggy Schuyler in Hamilton. This was when the show first opened Off-Broadway. When Hamilton moved to Broadway, she continued in these roles. She stayed with the show until December 2016.
In 2016, she won a Grammy Award for her singing on the Hamilton cast album. You can hear her solo parts in the songs 'Schuyler Sisters' and 'Say No To This'.
Jasmine also sang "America the Beautiful" at Super Bowl LI. She performed with her Hamilton co-stars Renée Elise Goldsberry and Phillipa Soo.
Other Film and TV Roles
Jasmine also acted in the 2015 film Mistress America. She was in the 2018 film Dog Days. She also appeared in the well-liked 2018 movie Blindspotting.
In 2020, she played Tyisha in the short series #Freerayshawn. She won an Emmy Award for this role. This Emmy win was very special. Jasmine and her father, Ron Cephas Jones, became the first father-daughter pair to win Emmy Awards in the same year. She was also the first Black woman to win in her Emmy category.
Blindspotting TV Series
Because the Blindspotting film was so popular, a TV show was made. This spin-off series continues the story from the movie. Jasmine leads the cast, playing her character Ashley again. She also became a producer for the show. This was her first time producing.
The Blindspotting TV series started on June 13, 2021. It was so successful that it was renewed for a second season.
In 2021, Jasmine and her father, Ron Cephas Jones, announced the nominees for the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards. This was for the Television Academy.
Personal Life
Jasmine Cephas Jones got engaged to Anthony Ramos on December 24, 2018. Anthony was also in the original Hamilton Broadway cast. They met and started dating in 2014 during rehearsals for Hamilton. It was reported that they later ended their engagement in 2021.
