Jasmine Cephas Jones (born July 21, 1989) is an American-British actress and singer. Her father was the famous actor Ron Cephas Jones. Jasmine studied acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre. She has won both a Grammy Award and an Emmy Award for her amazing work.
Jasmine became very well known when she starred on Broadway. She played two different characters, Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds, in the musical Hamilton. This was from 2015 to 2016. Her work on the Hamilton cast album helped her win a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. Her performance in Hamilton was even filmed and released on Disney+ in 2020.
She has also acted in several movies. These include Mistress America (2015), Monsters and Men (2018), and The Photograph (2020). In the drama film Blindspotting (2018), she played a caring mother. She continued this role in the TV series Blindspotting from 2021 to 2023. She also helped produce the series. Jasmine also appeared in TV shows like Girls (2017) and Mrs. Fletcher (2019). For her role in FreeRayshawn (2020), she won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series.

Early Life and Education
Jasmine Cephas Jones was born on July 21, 1989. She was born in London, England. However, she grew up in Midwood, Brooklyn, in the United States. Her father, Ron Cephas Jones, was an African American actor. Her mother, Kim Lesley, is a white jazz singer from Britain.
Jasmine went to Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School. This school is known for music, art, and performing arts. She also studied at Berklee College of Music. In 2011, she graduated from the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre.
Her Acting Career
Jasmine Jones has appeared in many independent films. Some of these include Titus (2013) and Fairfield (2014). She has also been in episodes of popular TV shows. These shows include Blue Bloods and Unforgettable.
In 2015, she started playing the roles of Maria Reynolds and Peggy Schuyler. This was in the first Off-Broadway production of Hamilton. When the show moved to Broadway, she continued in these roles. She stayed with the Broadway show until December 8, 2016. In 2016, she won a Grammy Award for her singing on the Hamilton cast album. She sings solo parts in the songs 'Schuyler Sisters' and 'Say No To This'. At Super Bowl LI, she sang "America the Beautiful" with her Hamilton co-stars.
Jasmine also appeared in the 2015 movie Mistress America. She was in the 2018 film Dog Days. She also starred in the highly praised 2018 film Blindspotting. In 2020, she played a character named Tyisha in the short series #Freerayshawn. She won an Emmy for this role. Her Emmy win in 2020 was very special. She and her father, Ron Cephas Jones, became the first father-daughter duo to win Emmy Awards in the same year. She was also the first Black woman to win in her category.
After the Blindspotting film was so popular, a TV series was made. The series continued the story from the movie. Jasmine was chosen to play her character, Ashley, again. She also became a producer for the series. This was her first time producing a show. Blindspotting started on June 13, 2021. It was renewed for a second season later that year.
On July 13, 2021, Jasmine and her father announced the nominees for the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards. In October 2021, it was announced that Jasmine had signed with CAA. This is a big agency that represents actors. Jasmine plays the role of Swan on the 2024 concept album Warriors. This album was created by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis.
Personal Life
On December 24, 2018, Jasmine Cephas Jones got engaged. She was engaged to Anthony Ramos. He was also in the original Broadway cast of Hamilton. They met and started dating in 2014 during rehearsals for Hamilton.
