Anthony Paul Ramos Martinez (born November 1, 1991) is an American actor and singer. He is known for his exciting roles in movies and musicals.
After finishing his studies in musical theater, Anthony started performing in stage shows. In 2015, he became famous for playing two roles, John Laurens and Philip Hamilton, in the hit musical Hamilton. For his work in Hamilton, he won a Grammy Award. He was also nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for his performance in the filmed version of Hamilton released in 2020.
Anthony Ramos has also appeared in several popular films. He had a supporting role in A Star Is Born (2018). He then starred in the musical movie In the Heights (2021), which earned him a nomination for a Golden Globe Award. More recently, he starred in the action film Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (2023) and the disaster film Twisters (2024).

Anthony Ramos's Early Life and School Days
Anthony Paul Ramos Martinez was born on November 1, 1991. He grew up in Brooklyn, New York. His family comes from Puerto Rico.
Anthony lived in an affordable housing complex in Bushwick, Brooklyn with his mother, older brother, and younger sister. He went to Halsey Junior High School in Queens, New York. There, he sang Motown songs in a student group called the Halsey Trio.
He graduated from New Utrecht High School in Brooklyn in 2009. At that time, he dreamed of playing college baseball and becoming a baseball coach. After high school, he attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in Manhattan, New York. This is a special school for performing arts. He received a full scholarship from the Seinfeld Scholarship, which was run by Jerry Seinfeld. Anthony graduated from the musical theater program in 2011.
Anthony Ramos's Acting Journey
After graduating in 2011, Anthony Ramos started getting roles in different musicals. He played Usnavi de la Vega in a 2012 show of In the Heights. In 2014, he performed in a dance show called Heart and Lights at Radio City Music Hall.
While rehearsing for Heart and Lights, Anthony auditioned for Hamilton. After getting a part in Hamilton, he also played Justin Laboy in Lin-Manuel Miranda's short musical 21 Chump Street. This was a 14-minute show performed only once in June 2014.
Hamilton first opened in early 2015. Anthony Ramos played the two roles of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton. The musical then moved to Broadway in July 2015. Anthony left the show in November 2016.
In September 2016, Anthony was cast in Spike Lee's Netflix TV series She's Gotta Have It. He played the character Mars Blackmon. He also played Ramon in the 2018 movie A Star Is Born, which starred Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.
In 2018, it was announced that Anthony would play Usnavi de la Vega in the movie version of In the Heights. The movie was released in 2021 and was very popular with critics. In April 2021, Anthony Ramos was chosen for the main role in the Transformers movie, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. This film came out on June 9, 2023.
In February 2022, Anthony was cast as Parker Robbins / The Hood in the superhero series Ironheart. This series is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In January 2024, he was cast as the main voice in a Bob the Builder animated movie. In July 2024, Anthony Ramos appeared in Twisters, which is a sequel to the 1996 movie Twister.
Anthony Ramos's Music Career
Anthony Ramos was part of the original Broadway cast recording for Hamilton in 2015. He sang in his dual roles of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton.
He worked again with Lin-Manuel Miranda in October 2017. He was one of the singers on Miranda's song "Almost Like Praying." This song was released to help victims of Hurricane Maria.

On November 8, 2017, Anthony released two songs, "Freedom" and "Common Ground." These songs were from his first solo music collection, called The Freedom EP. This EP was released on January 20, 2018.
In June 2019, Anthony Ramos signed with Republic Records, a big music company. His first album, The Good & The Bad, was released on October 25, 2019. His second album, Love and Lies, was released on June 25, 2021.

In 2014, Anthony Ramos met actress Jasmine Cephas Jones while they were rehearsing for Hamilton. They started dating in February 2015. On Christmas Eve 2018, he asked her to marry him in England. However, they ended their engagement in November 2021.
In February 2024, Anthony Ramos and his family were featured on the PBS TV show Finding Your Roots. This show helps people learn about their family history. On the show, he found out that some of his family came from the Canary Islands. He also learned that one of his very old ancestors was Pelinor, an ancient king from the island of Tenerife.
