Javicia Leslie (born May 30, 1987) is an American actress. She is best known for playing the superhero Batwoman.
Leslie's first big role was in the movie Swim at Your Own Risk in 2016. She then starred in TV shows like The Family Business and God Friended Me. In 2019, she was the main star of the movie Always a Bridesmaid.
In 2021, Leslie became the new star of the superhero series Batwoman. She also played the character Red Death in the TV show The Flash.

Early Life and School
Javicia Leslie was born in Augsburg, Germany, on May 30, 1987. Her family was in the military. Soon after she was born, her family moved to Maryland, and she grew up in a town called Upper Marlboro.
She went to Hampton University for college. While there, she acted in several plays, including Seven Guitars and Chicago.
Acting Career
After finishing college, Leslie moved to Los Angeles to become a professional actress.
First TV Shows
Leslie appeared in the TV series The Family Business. From 2018 to 2020, she was also a main character in the show God Friended Me. In that show, she played Ali Finer, the sister of the main character.
Becoming Batwoman
In 2020, a big opportunity came for Leslie. She was chosen to play the main character in the TV show Batwoman. This happened after the first actress, Ruby Rose, left the show.
Instead of playing the same character, Leslie played a new character named Ryan Wilder. Ryan Wilder was created just for the show. In the story, she finds the Bat-suit and becomes the new Batwoman. Leslie played this role for the second and third seasons of the show.
She also appeared as Batwoman and a villain version of her character called Red Death in the final season of The Flash.
Personal Life
Leslie is a Christian. She has also trained in Muay Thai, which is a type of martial art. In May 2025, she announced that she was engaged.
