Jay Fletcher Vincent was born on June 10, 1959. He is an American former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the Michigan State Spartans. Vincent was chosen by the Dallas Mavericks in the 1981 NBA draft. He played for several NBA teams and also played professionally in Italy.
College Basketball Career
Jay Vincent was a 6-foot-7-inch forward. He played at Michigan State University for coach Jud Heathcote. There, he played alongside famous players like Magic Johnson and Greg Kelser. Together, they won the 1979 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament. This was a huge achievement for their team.
Vincent was also a top scorer in college. He won the Big Ten scoring championship. He earned this title in both his junior and senior years.
Professional Basketball Career
After college, Jay Vincent was picked by the Dallas Mavericks. This happened in the second round of the 1981 NBA draft. He was the 24th player chosen overall.
