Jean Henry Céant (born on September 27, 1956) is a politician from Haiti. He served as the twenty-first Prime Minister of Haiti.
Becoming Prime Minister
Jean Henry Céant was chosen by President Jovenel Moïse to become the Prime Minister of Haiti in August 2018. He took over from Jack Guy Lafontant, who had stepped down because of money problems in the country.
Before becoming prime minister, Mr. Céant worked as a notary, which is a legal professional. He also ran for president in 2016. He leads a political group called Renmen Ayiti.
End of His Time as Prime Minister
On March 18, 2019, Jean Henry Céant's government ended. This happened after a vote in the parliament, where many members voted that they no longer supported his government.
Concerns from Canada
On November 17, 2022, the Government of Canada announced some actions regarding Jean Henry Céant. These actions were taken because of concerns about his involvement in certain activities in Haiti.
The Canadian government stated that Mr. Céant was suspected of protecting and allowing the actions of armed groups that caused problems for people in Haiti.
