Jed Brophy is an actor from New Zealand. He was born on October 29, 1963. He is well-known for his roles in many films by director Peter Jackson. These include Braindead, Heavenly Creatures, and the famous The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. He also appeared in King Kong. Later, Jed Brophy played the dwarf character Nori in The Hobbit movies.
About Jed Brophy
Jed Brophy was born in a town called Taihape in New Zealand in 1963. He grew up in a place called Mataroa. He went to Mataroa Primary School and then to Palmerston North Boys' High School.
He studied acting at Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School. He finished his studies in 1987 with a special diploma in acting. Jed started acting in plays in Wellington during the 1980s. He became very famous for his part in a play called Skin Tight by Gary Henderson. He performed this play hundreds of times on many tours. When the play was shown at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 1998, it won a special award called the Scotsman Fringe First Award.
Jed Brophy's first role on screen was in 1988. It was in a movie called Small War on the Edge of Town. This movie was made by the National Film Unit. He has worked on many movies and TV shows with director Peter Jackson. He also worked with Weta, a company that creates amazing digital effects for films.
