Jeffrey Grayer (born December 17, 1965) is a former American professional basketball player. He played for nine seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Grayer was an amazing college player for the Iowa State Cyclones. He also won a bronze medal at the 1988 Olympics with the United States national team.
Grayer was a star shooting guard at Iowa State University from 1985 to 1988. He still holds the record for the most points scored in the school's history, with 2,502 points. He was named an All-American in 1988. Grayer was part of the United States 1988 Olympic basketball team. He was chosen by the Milwaukee Bucks as the 13th pick in the first round of the 1988 NBA draft. He played for five different teams during his nine seasons in the NBA.
Life After Playing Basketball
In April 2010, Grayer became an assistant men's basketball coach at Iowa State. He worked under coach Greg McDermott. In August 2010, McDermott left for another job. A new coach, Fred Hoiberg, took over. Hoiberg offered Grayer a different role as Director of Basketball Operations. Grayer decided to leave shortly after. He moved back to his home state of Michigan. He said he wanted to continue coaching basketball.
Grayer is also the father of Jaire Grayer, who is also a professional basketball player.
