Jefferson is in the northeastern part of Greene County, Pennsylvania. It's surrounded by a separate area called Jefferson Township.
A main road, Pennsylvania Route 188, goes right through the middle of Jefferson. If you drive east on this road for about 3 miles (5 km), you'll reach Dry Tavern. If you drive west for about 7 miles (11 km), you'll get to Waynesburg, which is the main town of Greene County.
The town of Jefferson covers a total area of about 0.19 square miles (0.49 square kilometers), and all of it is land. A small stream called the South Fork of Tenmile Creek flows just north of the town.
