Jeneen Frei Njootli, born in 1988, is a talented artist from the Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation. They create art using many different methods, like sound, fabrics, performances, and even fashion. Jeneen is known for their unique way of combining these different art forms.

About Jeneen Frei Njootli
Jeneen is one of the people who started the ReMatriate Collective. This group helps make sure Indigenous women are shown fairly and positively in movies, TV, and news. They work to improve how Indigenous women are seen in media.
Artworks and Exhibitions
In 2018, Jeneen was one of five artists who were finalists for the Sobey Art Award. This is a very important award for Canadian artists. Their artwork, called wind sucked in through bared teeth (2017), was shown at the National Gallery of Canada.
In 2016, Jeneen completed a special program at the Western Front Society in Vancouver. This place is an artist-run centre, which means it's run by artists for artists.
Jeneen has also worked with another artist named Olivia Whetung on several projects. Olivia wrote a piece called Fugitive Dust to go along with Jeneen's solo art show. That show was titled I Can’t Make You Those Mitts Because There Is a Hole in My Heart and My Hands Hurt (2018).
Education and Training
Jeneen Frei Njootli studied art at the University of British Columbia. They earned a Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) degree in 2017.
In 2016, Jeneen also completed a special training program. It was called the Earth Line Indigenous Tattoo training residency.
